Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor: those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent, his eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face: your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.....

In the years that we have made our little hillside our home we have lost many, the first being a little mutt puppy that we named Daisy Mae, then my Jake, the last of the original farm cats from my parents home and Petey, my beloved guardian who came to us the same way that Daisy Mae did as someones cast off. We got a border collie that we named Brandy Lee not long after Daisy Mae left us, she passed in the same manner just 2 weeks after I lost my Dolly.

I decided to call my herd "DOLLY'S ACRE" in memory of my first little pygmy doe. Dolly was the sweetest and had the softest babydoll eyes I have ever seen. She was born November 7,2000 and came to me in April of 2001. In the years following Dolly gave me the sweetest little pygmy babies as well as an abundant supply of sweet milk. It was during her last attempt to give me the twin doelings that she was carrying that I knew something was not right. I pulled dead kids and my Dolly passed the next morning with her head on my lap looking at me with her sweet and loving Baby Doll eyes. Each registered kid born here is a tribute to my precious Dolly's life and what she has given me.

Tilly, my first retained doe from Bootsie passed on Monday June 22,2009 due to an error on my part with giving a supplement to help with a deficiency.

Tilly was my herd queen that took Dollys position when she passed, now my little herd is going through the pecking order once again and Tilly's daughter Heidi will hopefully fill her mamma's hoof prints here one day.
